My favourite studio is the environment. I like the immediacy it forces upon us as we struggle with changing light, physical discomfort, flies, wind, heat … everything.

I typically work outdoors in sketchbooks. The combination of oil pastel and acrylic ink, sometimes called ‘wax resist’ is my preferred medium for the extreme conditions of Central Australia.  I like the ink because it doesn’t dry out but stays liquid and responsive. In combination with oil pastels it creates wonderful textures. Don’t believe people when they say oil and water don’t mix!
